“Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D” Review

609524_183119_front

Just a bit about myself before I get to the review- I don’t like survival-horror games for the most part. I only beat Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica, I barely played RE4 and only seen seconds of the demo of RE5. Also, I’ve only played the Mercenaries for like… Minutes on RE4, and didn’t care for it. And in all honesty, I really just wanted to see Jill‘s butt in 3D.

So to make this clear, this is a review of Resident Evil from a guy who doesn’t like Resident Evil all too much, and only bought  it to see Jill’s ass. That all being said, here’s my review!

Set in the Resident Evil universe, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will deliver relentless action with players competing against the clock to defeat as many enemies as possible in a fixed time. Featuring Mercenaries missions from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, now fully realised in stunning 3D, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will add brand new modes and well known characters from the series to enrich and extend the Mercenaries experience. Furthermore, the title will take advantage of the Nintendo 3DS WiFi Connectivity, allowing players from around the world to join forces in co-op gameplay, regardless of location.

See that definition above? That is exactly what you’ll get. Kill as many as you can before time runs out.

Now for another tangent; you see, I’ve noticed a lot of people reviewing it on things that have nothing to do with the game. For the uneducated consumer who only has little money to spend on games, they may just look at the score it’s given and think “feh, I shan’t waste mah pennies on this rubbish!”. It makes it seem as if the game is really poor when it isn’t.

Does it have a story? NO. Did it say it had one? No. So.. Why are people reviewing it on that? Do we review Tetris poorly for having no story? No, because it never claimed to have one. It’s all about getting the highest score.

Also, I hear complaints about the sound. I don’t see the problem (quite possibly because aural problems can’t be perceived visually), and the game prompts you to use headphones. I don’t quite need it, because it sounds fine. You hear music, groans and explosions.

The game came packaged with a ‘special feature’ which was a demo of an up-and-coming RE title that allowed you to play as Jill in 3D! So.. My dream came true! I got to see Jill’s butt in 3D!

I would sell it right there, but.. If I did, how would I review it? I played it for a few days and found myself loving it! Regardless of how I feel about RE, this game feels like an arcade shooter that you’d play with a friend. I tend to get SS rank on everything, but that’s because I’m awesome ^^ the gameplay is fun, and that’s all it is.

I especially love Rebecca, not just because of her physical appearance, but because of her physical appearance. Wait.. I just dig brunettes. Bite me.

Anywho, it’s exactly what it says it is: The Mercenaries. You kill as many zombies as you can as fast as you can with friends or a random player online. If you like killing zombies, buy this. The only issue I see is that you can’t clear the save on the cartridge (which isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice if someone who bought it used could see their own scores in the game..) and that there isn’t a global leaderboard. In a game where the whole goal is the get the best score possible, why isn’t there a leaderboard?

As for the controls: I didn’t know how to play, but learned fast enough. It’s easy to figure out.

Just get it. It’s a fun way to kill time . It’s like $30 online. Just pop it in, kill some zombies, shut the 3DS off and go to sleep.

I like it. The people who didn’t like it should’ve read the description of the game. ^^;
